trail-work-1With Park Canyon Apartments located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, our residents have many opportunities to go hiking and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.   And don’t worry about having to drive any distance to do a little hiking.  Just go around the corner to Dalton State College and enjoy 2.5 miles of hiking trails in the beautiful forest on the side of Rocky Face Mountain.

This year, Dalton State College is looking to expand these trails by about a half mile which will create an even better loop.  The new trailhead will be located just behind the Brown Center and connect to the Cascade Trail.

In order to accomplish this, the college is looking for volunteers to help clear the new trail.  If you are interested, work days are scheduled for February 21st and March 20th from 8:30 am to noon.  Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and meet at the north end of the parking lot at the Brown Center.  Tools for clearing will be provided.

Need to work off some of that pent up energy from staying indoors during these cold winter days?  Grab some friends, roll up those sleeves and help Dalton State extend their hiking trails.
